We are starting on a journey where smart glasses will blur the lines between what you see that is real and what is digital. Today's headsets will be tomorrow's sunglasses and eventually the future's contact lenses. It is early on and I liken where we are at to the days of the Atari and "Pong" which was fun but simple. Today we have evolved to extremely realistic and lifelike games. I believe that the AR evolution will be similar and in 10-20 years we will be amazed at the experiences which will combine holograms and AI to enable them to act intelligently.
20 years is hard for most businesses to invest towards with more of a focus to make money in the short-term, say 3-5 years. I have been focusing on the HoloLens headset and developing applications for it. My applications are consumer and entertainment focused and in creating them, I have learned the capabilities of the HoloLens. I would be glad to review your business needs to see if there are short-term wins and help you understand the AR world and what it will change for your business.
